After church this past Sunday I drove my kids down to my parents house in South Carolina. We are trying to make the most of the few days we have left before the close of our summer. My older sister has 5 children and the cousins just love being together. As you can imagine, 8 children under the age of 9 can be quite chaotic. And so, Monday Morning Commentary is coming to you on Tuesday. I could not let the week go by without commenting because this series is shaping up to be so challenging.
My husband preached from Matthew 16. He told us that we must relentlessly protect our identity. He said that Jesus did not die just so that I could be forgiven. He dies so that I could be transformed.
He talked about how there is a gap between what we feel and what we are. For instance, the scripture says that we are the light of the world and that we are to be holy as God is holy. But the reality is, I don’t always live that out in the day to day. My husband beautifully explained that grace is so much more than a commodity to save me, it is the power to CHANGE me.
Knowledge of who God is allows me to have access to everything I need for godliness (2Peter 1:3). I love that. I don’t want to spoil the message for you, if you have not already heard it, but it ends with a wonderful illustration to help us understand how to access God’s grace (hint: it’s in the Cloud!)
You can listen to the rest of the message yourself! You can catch it today on the Elevation Network, on our Podcast, or in our archive.
See you tomorrow!

That comment about what grace is is timeless. Bonhoeffer wrote about “cheap grace” in The Cost of Discipleship. Amen!

Hi Holly! First time commenting on here! I haven’t listened to the sermon yet, but I can’t wait!! God has just been revealing more and more about his grace this year to me. A favorite verse I just came across “For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.” titus 2:11 amp Hallelujah!!! His grace saves us from hell…amazing! And so much more, enables us to over come sin!! I know I am just scratching the surface on all that Jesus did, but everyday is an adventure discovering more about our savior! Keep up the great posts, so encouraging!!
I just started watching your husbands sermons and I loved your waiting room sermon. I am a young mom too and really connected with so much of what you said. So thank you for doing an awesome job of encouraging us moms to enjoy the time we have, not complain, not look at what is next, but look at where God has me right now, praise Him and pray!!!
