This weekend we continued our series, The New Rules of Resolution.  I couldn’t be more excited about this series.  Based out of Colossians 2:6-7, each week we are hearing a truth that will help us change the way we change.

Last week the truth was: It’s not a project, it’s a process.

This week we learned: It’s not about achieving, it’s about receiving.

The world works on a system of achieving and then receiving.  You work, then you get paid.  You study, then you get a degree.  Pay and then you get the product.  But when God sent Jesus, He recreated the system.

You receive and then you achieve.  Joshua 1:8, the Lord empowered Joshua before he took the promised land.  Acts 1:8, the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and then they spread the gospel.

The way you got in is the way you go through.  When I get out of performance mode and into receiving mode, I am more effective for Christ.  If I receive forgiveness, I can forgive.  If I receive affirmation, I can give affirmation.  It is not that I am not to achieve things for Christ, it is only after I have received His grace.  The same grace that saved me is the grace that keeps me.

There is so much more about this sermon that was amazing.  There was the part about Romans 6:23 where my husband took our focus off comparing life and death and onto comparing wages and gifts.  And then there was the part about Rachel and Leah.  Leah represents the law.  Rachel represents grace.  Jacob worked 7 years before he earned Leah, but he gained Rachel and then worked 7 years for her, but after he got her.

I am learning how to change the way I change.  It is so great.  I hope you will listen to this series.  You can listen to the message on the Elevation Network, or later today on our Podcast, or in our archive. Have a great Monday!
