We launched our first series of 2013 called, The New Rules of Resolution, this weekend. I am so excited about this series. I know I say that every week, but I am extra excited about this one because I love practical teaching and that is what this series is all about. Based out of Colossians 2:6-7, each week we will hear a truth that will help us change the way we change.
This week the truth was: It’s not a project, it’s a process.
Human tradition focuses on the thing we are trying to accomplish, the habit we are trying to start, or stop. But God wants me to focus on the person He wants me to become and the Person He wants me to know. The point of the process is relationship.
The process is circular, not linear. I want to think of my spiritual growth as linear. Like a list of things I want to accomplish. But with God, growth is circular. Because God is a god of process. The only thing that stops the process of growth is if I disconnect myself..
My favorite line my husband said was, “It’s not about finishing what you started, it’s about continuing what He has already finished.”
