There’s an App for that…

I have been in the iPhone club for nearly a month now and I think it is safe to say I am hooked.  I am addicted.  I don't think I can ever go back.

One of the best things about the iPhone is the App Store.  I have heard that Apple truly makes their money from the App Store.  I now I see that this is true.  I try to stick mostly to the free apps but have bought a few.  Here's what I have added to my phone…

Yellow Pages… search a listing then click to dial
Holy Bible (You Version)… thanks, it's awesome
Tweetie… still on the fence about whether or not I will twitter but I can keep up with my husband
Tetris… this one costs but is one of my all time favorite video games
Pandora Radio… love it, love it
TypePad… for blogging from my phone (this app has some kinks)
Flixster Movies… great for movie times and reviews
Urbanspoon… restaurant finder (not so great, need to find a better one)

Sorry to those of you not in the iPhone world that cannot join in on the post, but I would love to hear from some of you…

What's your favorite app?

My thoughts on Staff Advance

I guess you could call this Thursday afternoon commentary.  I just got back from our Elevation Staff Advance (we advance, not retreat :)).

This was the first staff advance that the spouses of our church had ever attended.  I felt so honored to be a part.  I felt a part, I felt like I was included in on the vision of our church moving forward this year.  I was brought up to speed on things that are happening.  I got to see our staff praise each other for an hour and I got to celebrate them.  I got to fellowship at the meat house (Brazilian Steakhouse:)) and in the car with some of the other wives (some of my favorite people in the whole world).  I got to stand before our staff and personally thank them for all that they do to make Elevation happen.  I got to worship God and take communion with my husband (a rare thing since he usually leads it).

And the best part, God spoke to me.  He told me that I have been operating in the flesh on things that I used to do in the Spirit.  He told me to stop that.  To return to a keen sense of His presence and my need for Him in the small things of my life.  Like raising my boys and supporting my husband.

Yeah.  That's all I am going to say about that.

I am enjoying the last few days of Summer and bracing myself for an awesome Fall.  Get ready Elevation, God is about to do some amazing things in and through us.  Get ready.

Died and gone to heaven

Died and gone to heaven

Died and gone to heaven

Elijah is on vacation this week (his word).  Graham and I are having a great time together (although Graham asks "Uh Bubbah go?" several times a day).

Today we had to run in Guitar center to pick up a drool cover for Elijah's karaoke mic. Well, I think Graham thought he had died and gone to heaven. He walked around wide eyed saying "wook Mama, wook!"

It was too cute, that is until he threw a fit because it was time to leave. All good things must come to an end!

The Treasure Hunt

This a side most people do not see of my husband, the daddy side.  He wrote this treasure hunt in a matter of minutes after looking at a print out of pirate lingo.  This was my favorite part of the party.  Enjoy.

today it’s the place where yer treasure hunt begins!

The Party

I am not going to lie, I had a great time.  I really got into the theme (as you can see).  X marked the spot on the kitchen table.  Pirate cupcakes and watermelon on a cutlass, a better pirate party there has not been!  We all had a great time.

We limited the number of kids to cousins and practically cousins (the Corbetts and Phillips) and this made the party so un-chaotic.  The kids had a great time decorating pirate hook cookies, and making pirate hats (ok, the grown-ups did most of that part).  Then it was off to the treasure hunt.  My husband wrote the cutest treasure hunt and the kids had a blast.  We even had a plank to walk (a must from Elijah carried out by Chris Pollard, thanks Chris!).  The treasure was a pinata filled with candy and gold coins.

Then it was on to cupcakes and presents (thanks Uncle Max for the cash!  We hate that you missed the festivities!).

Check back around 4 to watch a clip of my pirate husband leading the kids on a treasure hunt!

Birthday Extravaganza

I am currently uploading 595 pictures onto my computer from our Daytona trip and Elijah’s birthday weekend.  Whew, I have some editing and deleting to do.

We started the weekend just celebrating as a family.  We had birthday pancakes and the karaoke machine was a  hit.

Check back at noon for pictures of the party…

Happy Birthday Elijah

Today is Elijah's 4th birthday.  I cannot believe it.  So far we have had had birthday blueberry pancakes and a great time with his present, a karaoke machine.

I found these pictures of Elijah in my husbands old wallet.  They go in order of 7 weeks, 6 mo, 9mo, 1 year, and 18 mo.  Then below that is age 2 and 3.
